What "soft silk" means
A soft silk saree is woven from pure silk with a finer, more supple finish than a traditional heavy Kanchipuram — often with a lower zari density — so it falls softly and weighs less. It is still pure silk: the difference is the weave and finish, not a drop in quality.
Soft silk vs. hard (traditional) silk
Traditional Kanchipuram "hard" silk is heavier, stiffer and more formal — the bridal and muhurtham choice.
